Job description
As an experienced Platform Engineer in the Order Manager as a Platform (OMaaP) team, you will help build ING's next-generation payments platform. OMaaP is designed to process millions of Instant Payments and SEPA Credit Transfer orders daily for all European ING entities.
You will work with market-standard technologies, modern engineering practices, and a highly scalable cloud-native architecture.
You will contribute to a mission-critical environment where resilience, real-time processing, observability and automation are key. ING is actively migrating traditional applications into containerized hosting environments and preparing for a full cloud-native journey. This role is central to that transformation. Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain OMaaP internal and external API capabilities.
- Implement order creation, routing to the Payment Engine and warehousing until execution.
- Enable full lifecycle tracking and status reporting of payment orders.
- Design and optimize high-volume, asynchronous, stateless and resilient systems.
- Implement and improve observability tooling and dashboards.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automation using Azure DevOps.
- Deploy and manage workloads on container and non-container platforms.
- Support production environments (24/7 availability) and participate in standby rotations.
- Work within ING's Scrum and DevOps practices, delivering iteratively with high quality.
Requirements
Do you have experience in UNIX?, Do you have a Master's degree?, * Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT or a related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience, ideally in an international environment.
- Strong knowledge of Linux fundamentals and virtualization concepts.
- Hands-on experience with container orchestration platforms: Kubernetes and/or OpenShift.
- Solid experience with CI/CD tools: Azure DevOps, Git, Maven, Ansible - including automated deployments on container platforms.
Strong experience with open-source monitoring and observability tools:

Elastic / ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)

Experience designing dashboards, observability pipelines, and performance/health metrics.

Practical experience with Helm for Kubernetes package management.

Good scripting skills (Bash, Unix).

Good knowledge of relational databases, especially Oracle.

Experience in platform troubleshooting, performance tuning, and platform optimization.

Basic understanding of Scrum/Kanban and Agile methodologies.

Affinity with Risk and Compliance.

24×7 production support experience and willingness to join standby rotations.
Nice to have:
- Experience with automated testing frameworks.
- Experience with ELKaaS provisioning and configuration.
- Experience in designing resilience patterns, idempotent architecture and large-scale asynchronous processing.
Benefits & conditions
- 12 months contract with the possibility of extension, aiming for internal employment at ING after 18 months.
- A 36 hour workweek with flexible hours and a hybrid working model (office and home-based).
- Salary range: €4.500,00 - €6.750,00 gross per month (based on 36 hours per week, excluding holiday pay, based on experience).
- Additional benefits: holiday allowance, 13th month and pension contributions.
