The candidate will join a multidisciplinary research group working in a variety of R&D and consulting projects in the fields of air traffic management and aircraft operations, with a significant participation in the SESAR and Clean Aviation research programmes.

The candidate will lead and support the development and verification of different algorithms and computational challenges related with the computation of aircraft trajectories and advanced concepts in aircraft operations and air traffic management.

Principal tasks will be:

1. Design, develop, and test methods and algorithms for trajectory prediction and optimization applications, both for onboard and ground-based systems.
2. Design, develop, and test methods and algorithms for large-scale flight trajectory computation using distributed/parallel computing.
3. Design, develop, and test methods and algorithms for trajectory simulation and visualisation.
4. Design, develop, and test optimisation methods for airspace management, air traffic flow management and air traffic control applications.
5. Contribute to the maintenance and development of prototypes and software libraries developed within the research group
6. Contribute to the continuous improvement of software engineering processes and methodologies within the research group.

Bachelor Degree or equivalent, 1. Good understanding of software engineering processes, procedures, methodologies and tools.

2. Good proficiency in Python and C++. Knowledge of other programming languages would be a plus.
3. Knowledge in aeronautics and air traffic management will be a plus.
4. Experience with artificial intelligence applications will be a plus.
5. Theoretical and applied knowledge of AI and data prediction algorithms will be a plus.
6. Experience in parallelization of programs with OpenMP will be a plus.

Specific Requirements

1. Good English proficiency.
2. MSc, or BSc in computer science.

Languages ENGLISH

• 1 year contract. Test period of 6 months.
• Initial gross salary range between 30KEur and 38Keur, based on the experience and merits of the candidate.
