The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain, housing MareNostrum and hosting EuroHPC JU initiatives. The Language Technologies Laboratory at BSC consolidates experience in NLP areas such as massive language model building, biomedical text mining, machine translation, and unsupervised learning for under-resourced languages. The lab is funded by national and EU projects including ALIA, AINA, and other initiatives. Key Duties
- Collaborate with group members on design and development of solutions to meet research project goals.
- Engage stakeholders to understand challenges and available data, formulating valuable solutions.
- Generate and evaluate language models using deep learning techniques.
- Collaborate with internal and international stakeholders.
- Manage corpora and language data per the lab's data management plan.
- Ensure model quality and compliance.
- Lead projects or activities.
- Apply for research projects.

Requirements
Education: PhD in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Applied Linguistics, or related disciplines. Essential Knowledge And Experience
- Experience with deep learning frameworks and relevant domains.
- Corpus annotation and linguistic resource development.
- Data administration and management (transfer, storage, analysis, distribution, exploration).
- Project leadership.
- Version control tools and MLOps best practices.
- Research experience.
- Test-Driven Design/Development.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Native level Spanish; strong linguistic knowledge.
Additional Knowledge
- Open-source software development.
- AI techniques theory.
- Continuous Integration/Delivery/Deployment tools (GitLab CI, GitHub, Docker, Ansible).
- Research dissemination, paper writing.
- Native or good level Catalan.
