Nature of the Post:
The IT Technician is responsible for a wide range of duties, relating to the smooth running of the IT Infrastructure within the school. This involves the maintenance of the network, software and licenses, as well as hardware support. This post comes at an exciting time for the school as we continue to roll out personal devices to staff and students, and integrate VR and AI into the classroom as part of an ambitious IT strategy.
Working Hours
*08:00 - 16.00 Monday to Friday inclusive (some very occasional weekend work required to support school events or open days)
*37.5 working hours per week with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break per day
Reporting To:
*Director of Operations and the Head
*Working alongside: Network Manager and other Support Team Staff
Remuneration:
*£26,000 - £28,500 dependant on qualifications and experience
*30 days annual leave plus bank holidays per annum (to be taken during school holidays)

The IT Technician will be responsible for:
*Installing, configuring, upgrading and maintaining IT equipment, systems, network infrastructure and services for users including staff, pupils and visitors
*Supporting IT projects including roll-out of new hardware, software, network infrastructure and updates
*Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving issues within IT equipment and networking infrastructure including user error, hardware and software faults
*Taking pre-emptive action to prevent common, recurring or predictable issues
*Monitoring helpdesk tickets and resolving user issues in a timely manner
*Communicating in a professional manner with all users, including staff and pupils, either face-to-face, over the telephone or via email
*Liaise with other school departments, in resolving issues, installing IT equipment, systems and services and in supporting IT projects
*Providing advice, guidance and training to users in relation to IT equipment, systems and services
*Experimenting, testing and evaluating new technology
*Maintain the cyber security of school data, highlighting and challenging any risks as they are identified
*Creating and maintaining documentation including guides, procedural documentation, reports and asset registers
*Any other duties that your line manager sees fit, providing that such duties are appropriate to your role
*Manage the maintenance of other IT operated through the network, e.g. telephone system, CCTV, website etc.

·Basic understanding of computer networks and systems maintenance.
·Proficiency in software installation.
·Familiarity with operating systems and troubleshooting.

Desirable
*Practical experience of IT support.
*Qualification in an ICT related field
