Job description
As our newly appointed Systems Engineer you will take engineering requirements from customers and design bespoke software solutions that can be delivered within time and cost constraints. This will involve interfacing with both commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components as well as custom-designed interfaces, LabVIEW and other software programs.
The role will involve the creation of system concepts, bespoke software and fault finding. This important role will provide an opportunity to design and engineer a wide range of bespoke products which allows our clients' customers to benefit from our high-quality engineered solutions that are consistently delivered on time, in full.
Role responsibilities:
- Interpretation of customer requirements specifications.
- Creation of system design documentation (block diagrams, flow charts, class & data. hierarchies, requirements & deliverables documentation).
- Creation of work packages derived from system design documentation.
- Implementation and testing of work packages.
- Work package integration into overall software architecture.
- Completion of software and system test plans prior to system commissioning.
- In-house and customer-site system commissioning.
- You may be required to perform any other duties and to work in any other areas as requested by the Company, if necessary, which may include other offices and those of clients.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Systems engineering?, * 3+ Years Software design and development in National Instruments LabVIEW (CLD+ preferred).
- Knowledge of GPIB, RS232, TCPIP - Desirable.
- Experience using C/C++/Python - Desirable.
- Previous experience of the aerospace and defence industry - Desirable.
- Demonstratable experience of software design process from development through to validation.
- Team player with drive to progress to senior level.
- Experience in automated test, measurement or control.
- System design and specification documentation.
- Creation of top-level system drawings and diagrams.
- Liaise with customers on specific project requirements.
- Produce fit for purpose software within time and project constraints.
- System integration test and fault finding including on-site works.
- Good knowledge of National Instruments LabVIEW.
- Proven track record of systems engineering.
- Ability to create high level system level designs by specifying instrumentation and sensors.
- Possess all requirements for successfully meeting formal Security Check (SC) criteria.
- Sociable style with good drive and dedication.
- Good communication skills.
- Able to work independently as well as in a team.
- Motivation and a desire to contribute to a dynamic business.
- Solid ability to work to tight timescales to deliver projects on time.
- Able to interpret customer requirements.
- Able to work within tight budget and timescales.
- Able to self-manage to confidently achieve targets.
- Able to work in a multi skilled design team.
- Possess all requirements for successfully meeting formal Security Check (SC) criteria
- Candidates must be self-motivated and have a passion for engineering, delivering projects on time and be keen to gain experience designing, developing, testing and commissioning a wide range of equipment.
