Job description

The IT Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the firm's systems, networks, and services operate reliably, securely, and efficiently. The position combines team leadership with technical oversight, service management, and strategic contribution to IT and digital transformation projects.

  • Managing and mentoring IT Operations team members, ensuring high performance and professional development.

  • Overseeing on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring stability, scalability, and security.

  • Supporting the IT Director with delivery of the firm's IT, AI, and Innovation strategies.

  • Working closely with the Innovation Manager and Digital Adoption Team on transformation and process-improvement projects.

  • Managing system security operations, backup and recovery, and compliance with ISO27001 and ISO22301 standards.

  • Leading Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation renewals.

  • Developing and documenting robust IT processes and procedures.

  • Managing vendor relationships, contracts, and software licences.

  • Producing monthly management reports on IT operations, metrics, and service performance.

Requirements

Applicants should have proven technical competence across the following areas:

  • Microsoft 365 Platform: Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams.

  • Windows Server, Active Directory, SQL Server, and PowerShell scripting.

  • Cloud infrastructure management and server virtualisation (Azure or similar).

  • Enterprise backup, replication, and disaster recovery planning.

  • Network management, cybersecurity principles, and data protection best practices.

  • Strong understanding of project management and helpdesk operations.

Key qualities include:

  • Demonstrable experience in an IT management or senior operations role.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

  • A passion for technology, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure.

  • A collaborative mindset, able to influence and inspire confidence at all levels.
