Job description
As IT Support Engineer, you ll be responsible for the day-to-day reliability, security and performance of OAL s internal IT systems and infrastructure.
You ll provide hands-on support to users across the business, maintain servers, networks and cloud applications, and help ensure robust cyber security, data protection and business continuity arrangements are in place.
This is a varied, practical role suited to someone who enjoys problem-solving, supporting colleagues and contributing to continuous improvement in a growing organisation.
What you ll be responsible for
User & Desktop Support
- Providing first-line and second-line support for desktops, laptops, software and user accounts
- Configuring and deploying IT equipment for new starters and existing employees
- Supporting users with guidance and knowledge-sharing to improve IT capability across the business
Systems, Infrastructure & Networks
- Maintaining and administering Active Directory, user accounts, permissions and group policies
- Supporting servers, networking equipment and virtual environments
- Supporting Microsoft Windows Server environments ( and beyond)
- Managing and monitoring cloud-based business applications
- Supporting system upgrades, migrations and new installations
- Maintaining and supporting telephony and mobile device systems
Security, Backup & Business Continuity
- Maintaining data backup regimes and supporting business continuity testing
- Deploying system updates, patches and antivirus definitions
- Monitoring IT security systems and responding to emerging risks
- Ensuring secure data removal and asset disposal in line with data protection requirements
Monitoring, Assets & Projects
- Proactively monitoring system performance to minimise downtime
- Purchasing and deploying IT equipment and maintaining accurate asset records
- Supporting customer-facing projects by assisting with IT equipment configuration when required
- Working with internal teams and external providers to deliver reliable IT services
Requirements
- Strong experience supporting Microsoft desktop, server and cloud environments
- Solid knowledge of Windows, Microsoft 365, Active Directory and Azure / Entra
- Proven ability to deploy, configure and troubleshoot end-user hardware and software
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, cyber security and data protection principles
- Strong communication skills and a professional, service-focused approach
- Ability to manage priorities and work independently or as part of a team
- Flexible and proactive mindset, with willingness to travel occasionally and support out-of-hours activity when required
