Job description

The IT Support Technician will provide high-quality, desk-based and on-site technical support to staff and students at a prestigious Independent Blackburn High School. The role covers 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line support, ensuring the smooth operation, security, and development of the school's IT systems and network infrastructure.

Working closely with the Technical Alignment Manager and supported remotely by Blue Orange HQ, the post holder will play a key role in both day-to-day support and longer-term technical strategy., Technical Support

  • Provide 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line desk-based IT support to staff and students
  • Support and maintain Windows devices and laptops
  • Administer and support Microsoft Office 365
  • Reset and manage user accounts and passwords for staff and students
  • Diagnose and repair network and device-related issues, including cabling
  • Support and maintain interactive boards and classroom technology

Network & Systems Management

  • Assist with maintaining and monitoring the school network
  • Use the Ubiquiti portal to manage wireless access, including issuing Wi-Fi access/tokens to guests
  • Ensure all systems, devices, and management platforms are kept up to date
  • Support general infrastructure maintenance and improvements

Safeguarding, Filtering & Monitoring

  • Review filtering and monitoring reports
  • Identify and escalate concerns relating to inappropriate searches or online activity in line with safeguarding procedures
  • Work closely with school leadership where required

Collaboration & Strategy

  • Attend a weekly meeting with Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
  • Work with the Technical Alignment Manager to support and develop the school's IT strategy
  • Liaise with Blue Orange HQ for escalation and remote support where required

Working Hours

  • On-site working hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm
  • Remote support provided by Blue Orange HQ: 4:00pm - 6:00pm

Requirements

Do you have experience in IT support?, * Experience providing IT support across multiple support levels

  • Good working knowledge of Windows operating systems
  • Experience with Office 365 administration
  • Basic networking knowledge (wired and wireless)
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a school environment

Desirable

  • Experience working in an education setting
  • Familiarity with Ubiquiti networking equipment and portals
  • Understanding of filtering and monitoring systems in schools, * IT engineer education: 3 years (required)
