Job description
As a Senior System Engineer specializing in combat systems, you will be at the forefront of defining and managing system-level requirements for advanced naval platforms. This position demands a strong command of integration, verification, validation, and qualification (IVVQ) activities to ensure effective system performance and compliance across all operational domains. In this role, your technical insight will help align cross-functional teams with project goals, ensuring both functional and non-functional requirements are thoroughly addressed within the scope of naval combat systems development and deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
- You will take ownership of the complete lifecycle of combat system requirements, guaranteeing structured documentation, traceability, and alignment throughout all related subsystems and modules. * As a technical lead, you will influence the overall system design by reviewing, refining, and cascading system-level requirements down to the subsystem level. * You will coordinate all IVVQ efforts, evaluate supplier and internal outputs, and ensure that every requirement is appropriately tested, verified, and validated. * Facilitating alignment between engineering teams and key stakeholders, you'll offer technical clarity and promote best practices in integration strategies. * You'll support the closure of outstanding non-functional requirements and champion improvements in systems engineering processes, particularly around requirements and IVVQ workflows.
Requirements
- A master's degree in engineering or a closely related technical discipline, complemented by substantial experience in system or subcontractor management in complex, high-tech environments, preferably within shipbuilding or defense. * Proven expertise in the integration of naval or combat systems. * Familiarity with requirements management platforms such as IBM DOORS. * A track record of successful collaboration in multidisciplinary and large-scale projects. * Demonstrable experience in providing leadership or coordination in complex technical programs. * Fluency in English, with a working knowledge of German considered a plus. * A clean record suitable for defense-related security clearances, supported by strong professional references. * Full EU citizenship and a valid EU passport are mandatory due to the security requirements; applicants with non-EU nationality, even partially, or holding only a visa are not eligible.
