An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Buckinghamshire New University as a Technician in support of new and existing courses. Working alongside other technicians, you will be responsible for the organisation of equipment used for teaching and assessing, routine maintenance of equipment and the management of supplies. In this varied and vital role you will work alongside other technical colleagues in unique learning environments and will have the opportunity to develop and grow into specific areas such as patient simulation, virtual/augmented reality and the programming and use of robotic mannikins. As part of a team, you will be working closely with academic colleagues to prepare the equipment required for teaching as well as facilitating and enabling an excellent student experience. If you have 'hands on' practical ability together with good self organisation and communication skills plus IT literacy, we would like to hear from you. Full training will be provided but a proactive 'can do' attitude and experience of working in a busy support role are essential. You will be mainly based at the High Wycombe campus with a requirement to travel to Uxbridge or Aylesbury to meet student demand., Responsible to: SAS Technical Supervisor (High Wycombe) Responsible for: N/A Job Purpose: To provide technical support to Healthcare and Allied Health areas and to provide ad-hoc support to nursing and related courses. To practice an inclusive approach and support building an inclusive university community where people can be themselves. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare equipment and materials for use by students and lecturers.
- Preparation of materials for assessment.
- To provide operational support to senior colleagues as and when required.
- To ensure that equipment is correctly stored and maintained, ensuring adequate supplies of consumables.
- Operation of instructional media equipment such as video cameras, multimedia computer systems and audio and visual distribution systems.
- To maintain inventories of equipment, identifying faults and reporting to senior colleagues as appropriate.
- To help to ensure all areas provide a clean, safe and secure working environment and satisfy relevant Health and Safety regulations, reporting any concerns to senior managers.
- To collaborate with colleagues across the wider Directorate to provide a customer-focussed service, playing a proactive role in improving the Student Experience.
- To contribute to the student experience - demonstrating an awareness of the need for 'customer focus' in respect of resolving issues.
- To be responsible for the booking and scheduling of sessions, liaising with academic staff and timetabling.
- Comply with relevant legislative and other requirements (e.g., the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR; Health and Safety; UKVI; and Equality and Diversity) in all working practices.

Requirements
Do you have experience in SAS?, Educated to A Level standard or equivalent A Knowledge & Experience Practical / technical experience relevant to post including an understanding of simulation in a clinical/healthcare context and an interest in one or more of the key areas of focus. A/I Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements A/I Experience of working within teams A/I Experience of working in a clinical environment or similar A/I Experience of working in a student-facing role A/I Skills Digitally able and proficient in Microsoft tools A/I Ability to engage with others in a working environment A/I Ability to organise self and manage own workload A/I Ability to work to deadlines A/I Ability to set up, operate and demonstrate technical equipment A/I
