Job description
As a Senior ICT Infrastructure Analyst, you will play a key role in ensuring the secure, reliable and efficient delivery of ICT infrastructure services to Assembly Members (MLAs), Party Support and Secretariat staff based in Parliament Buildings, Stormont, Dundonald, as well as constituency offices throughout Northern Ireland. This is a critical technical position with a strong focus on server and network management within a complex and high-profile environment., As a Senior ICT Infrastructure Analyst, you will assist in the smooth operation of the ICT Infrastructure Team, providing a secure and resilient ICT environment. A major focus of the Senior ICT Infrastructure Analyst role will be server administration, network management, cloud services, and maintaining robust security standards across all systems., The Senior ICT Infrastructure Analyst will be responsible for:
- Providing technical support and advice to customers in person, by phone and email
- Diagnosing and resolving technical issues efficiently, ensuring full resolution and customer satisfaction
- Classifying and prioritising incidents, documenting root causes, and implementing preventative measures
- Identifying and analysing wider system issues and consulting internal/external specialists where necessary
- Patching and updating MS Windows Server 2012 (or later) in a Windows Hyper-V 2019 environment
- Supporting and managing services within the Microsoft Azure cloud environment
- Managing MS Exchange 2016 (or later) on-premise and Microsoft 365 cloud-based email systems, including mailboxes and permissions
- Administering Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft cloud identity services
- Managing and configuring TCP/IP network equipment such as switches
- Supporting in-house developed Microsoft-based applications (e.g., DevOps pipelines, Company Portal)
- Investigating system alerts and providing timely responses
- Planning for disaster recovery and developing contingency arrangements
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of secure Windows 10 (or later) device configurations
- Supporting secure remote access solutions and smart devices
- Building and managing relationships with senior stakeholders, providing technical advice and challenge where appropriate
- Ensuring compliance with all Assembly Commission policies, including Equal Opportunities and Dignity at Work
- Managing information and records in line with statutory and organisational requirements
- Undertaking additional duties as reasonably required, Support and administration of a TCP/IP-based network, including two or more of the following:
- Remote access equipment
- Firewalls
- Switches
- Routers
Requirements
(a) Hold at least an HND in Computing or another ICT-relevant discipline (minimum 50% computing content - full details must be provided on the application form), AND Have at least 1 year's experience in a challenging Infrastructure Support/Service Desk environment
OR
(b) Have at least 3 years' experience in a challenging Infrastructure Support/Service Desk environment
Experience can include time gained through work placements.
Equivalent or higher level qualifications will also be considered.
Technical Skills
Applicants must demonstrate at least one year's experience in one or more of the following:
Skill 1:
- Managing MS Windows Server 2012 (or later) in a Windows Hyper-V 2019 environment
- Managing MS Exchange 2016 (or later) on-premise and Microsoft 365 cloud-based systems
- Supporting the MS Azure environment, * Ability to analyse business requirements and produce logical, customer-focused solutions
- Proactive approach to improving processes and service delivery
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Ability to manage a heavy, diverse and unpredictable workload while maintaining ICT best practice standards
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, influencing people and resources to achieve objectives
