IT Support Operator

IT Support is responsible for engineering, administering, and maintaining the MCCE Local Area Network (LAN). This includes contingency planning and further development of the Communication and Information Systems/Information Technology (CIS/IT) used in the MCCE, as well as advising the Chief Support on all CIS/IT matters. Additionally, IT Support is tasked, under the Directorate, with the overall IT security at MCCE. The IT Support team consists of two possible non-full-time positions that share responsibilities and complement each other in IT knowledge., * Helpdesk: Provide technical support to users.

• System Management: Maintain system contingency plans (backup, restore, troubleshooting, disaster recovery). Perform server and workstation updates, and manage system health, storage space, and quotas.
• IT Security: Develop and maintain security policies and controls. Analyze security incidents and escalate events. Supervise logs, firewalls, and proxies. Apply security updates and manage user access.
• Training: Train new staff on MCCE CIS/IT infrastructure., Working conditions: This job role offers a balanced split between operational (run) and project (build) work, with a distribution of 75% operational and 25% project-related tasks. To minimize the impact on business operations, some changes may be scheduled outside of regular business hours.

Iron: The candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of proven work experience with the chosen eCF profile in a similar function. This includes systemic actions to build or deconstruct system elements, identifying failing components, and determining the root causes of failures. Additionally, the candidate should be able to provide support to less experienced colleagues., The ideal candidate should preferably have:

• At least 5 years of knowledge and proven work experience with VMWare & Vcenter.
• Experience with Fortinet firewalls.
• Skills in WordPress web design.
• Expertise in Hardware Support for HPE.
• Familiarity with LOGFAS/EVE.
• Proven work experience within the Ministry of Defence or another governmental organization.
• At least 5 years of knowledge and experience with Veeam backup software.
• Experience in switch and router management.
• Preferably resides in the region of the work location.
• At least 5 years of knowledge and proven work experience with all of the following tools:

• Monitoring Tools
• Administering Tools
• Backup Tools
• Problem Management Tools
• (Optional) Automated Tools
• Cyber Tools
• Capacity Planning

The candidate should also be familiar with systemic actions to build or deconstruct system elements, identify failing components, and determine the root causes of failures. Providing support to less experienced colleagues is a plus.
