Job description
We are seeking an experienced EFX Trading Application Specialist to join a front-office aligned technology support function. This role is critical in ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of core FX trading and money market applications used across global trading operations.
You will support key trading platforms (including GLE/BRAIN or similar systems), working closely with front-office, operations, and global technology teams to maintain seamless trading capability, resolve incidents, optimise performance, and introduce minor enhancements.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong application support background within banking or financial markets, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys solving complex technical issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on application support for FX trading and associated systems.
- Manage and resolve incidents within agreed SLAs, ensuring minimal disruption to trading and settlement processes.
- Prioritise and communicate clearly during high-impact issues.
- Conduct deep-dive investigations for recurring or major incidents.
- Produce documentation and implement long-term fixes in collaboration with development teams.
- Monitor system health, performance, and capacity (latency, throughput, errors).
- Recommend and implement enhancements to ensure optimal efficiency and scalability.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and operational procedures.
- Support audit and compliance activities by ensuring all processes meet internal standards.
- Act as a bridge between IT, trading desks, and operational teams.
- Participate in a global on-call rota to provide 24/7 support when required.
- Support planned releases, environment changes, and maintenance windows.
- Engage in automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of application support fundamentals
- Working knowledge of FX trade lifecycle and banking/financial products.
- Experience querying relational databases (e.g., SQL).
- Understanding of system architecture, interfaces, and data flows.
- Awareness of ITIL or similar frameworks.
- Understanding of security controls and compliance standards in financial systems.
- A strong IT background supporting complex financial or banking applications.
- Hands-on experience in technical application support.
- Exposure to trading systems and interaction with front-office stakeholders.
