Job description
Tolworth Girls' School & Sixth Form is seeking an experienced, forward thinking Network Manager to lead our IT infrastructure and support services. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the technological direction of a thriving, high performing school community and ensure our staff, students and governors benefit from a secure, reliable and innovative digital environment.
You will oversee the full lifecycle of our network systems, manage a dedicated IT team, and work closely with senior leaders to drive continuous improvement across our technical infrastructure.
What you'll be doing

Leading the management, maintenance and development of the school's IT network, servers, storage and virtual environments.

Providing expert technical advice to the Director of Resources and contributing to long term digital strategy.

Proactively monitoring systems to ensure high availability, security and performance.

Managing relationships with external providers such as Atom Wide, Salamander and NS Optimum.

Overseeing the design and support of our Windows network infrastructure.

Ensuring robust documentation, disaster recovery planning and compliance with licensing and IT policies.

Line managing the IT Support Team and ensuring an effective, responsive service for staff, students and governors.

Supporting staff induction and CPD related to IT systems.

Leading or contributing to technical projects, upgrades and new technology research.

Working flexibly, including occasional evenings or weekends for maintenance, events or urgent issues.
Requirements
We're seeking a confident, proactive professional who can combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership and communication skills.
Essential experience and knowledge:
-
Senior technical IT experience in a complex environment.

Strong background in Windows Server (2016-2025), Windows 11, Active Directory and Group Policy.

Experience managing and supporting network infrastructure.

Excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise and work under pressure, and a commitment to high standards of service.

Understanding of GDPR and Keeping Children Safe in Education.
Desirable skills:
-
Team leadership experience.

Wireless technologies, Office 365, Hyper V virtualisation, SAN storage, MDT imaging, Arbor MIS.

Knowledge of hardware/software installation, AV technology and printer systems.

Experience diagnosing and resolving infrastructure issues.

This post is full-time working on-site, Monday to Thursday usually 8am-3.45pm and Fridays 8am-3.30pm Inclusive of unpaid rest breaks. However some flexibility is needed to meet the business needs with possible evening and weekend work, which may be remote. 29 days annual leave, to be taken in periods of school holidays, plus 8 bank holidays.
