Job description
We are looking for a creative and proactive Graduate Communications & Social Media Officer to support the Schools of Art, Film & Media (AFM) and Music & Performing Arts (MPA). You will help drive awareness, applications, and enrolments by creating engaging content and supporting our year-round communications activity. In this role, you will contribute to social media planning and delivery across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and other platforms, as well as support newsletters, blogs, course webpages, and events such as SparkFest. You'll work closely with academic teams to showcase student stories, course highlights, and School achievements in formats that resonate with different audiences. You will also collaborate with Subject Leads and attend monthly School meetings to support the development of our communications strategy and report on progress throughout the recruitment cycle. (This is a 18 Month Full Time Fixed Term Role)
Requirements
Do you have experience in SEO?, An ideal graduate for this role will be a confident content creator with strong skills in writing, photography and video, and a clear understanding of social media audiences and influencer culture. They will communicate effectively, work independently and collaboratively, and use IT tools with confidence. We are looking for someone organised, detail-focused and able to manage a busy workload under pressure, while monitoring their own progress and escalating issues when necessary. Strong working relationships are essential, and while graphic design skills, SEO knowledge and the ability to drive are desirable, they are not required. The successful graduate will support recruitment outreach across both schools by managing and prioritising their workload and contributing to content and communications throughout the recruitment cycle. Working across multiple platforms and formats, the GCSM officer will develop content, shape communications strategy and deliver a brand reinforcement approach that boosts AFM and MPA applications and conversions across the academic year. They will collaborate closely with the AFM and MPA Subject Leads and take part in monthly School meetings to help develop the ongoing communications strategy and report on progress.
- Proven skills in content production, including writing, photography and video.
- Strong understanding of social media audiences and influencer-driven engagement.
- Ability to manage workload independently, work effectively as part of a team, and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with strong attention to detail.
- Confident use of IT packages and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Graphic design skills and experience producing visually compelling content.
- Knowledge of SEO and how it informs digital communications strategy.
- Experience developing content or communications for recruitment, marketing or outreach.
- Ability to drive to support off-campus activities and events.
