Job description

  1. Computational modelling of neurocognitive disorders related to ageing within the field of computational neuroscience
  2. Research in computational neuroscience, including neuronal communication, memory and learning
  3. Support in the development, optimisation and maintenance of technological platforms and tools
  4. Contribution to scientific publications, technical reports and dissemination of research results
  5. Collaboration in national and international research projects, as well as knowledge transfer activities

The University will recruit the best candidate following the recommendations of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. Selection and hiring procedures will follow transparent mechanisms according to national and regional legislation., This contract is related to specific work and services to be developed by the ULPGC in the context of Computational Neuroscience Marie Curie Chair project.

  1. Type of contract: Indefinite-term contract for scientific-technical activities, based on article 23 bis of Law 14/2011, of 1 June, on Science, Technology and Innovation, and other applicable regulations.
  2. Purpose of the contract: The aim of this contract is to carry out scientific-technical activities linked to the project Computational Neuroscience Marie Curie Chair, whose thematic area is connected with the ULPGC research line "Neuronal Computing: design of new architectures and models. Applications in biomedical, clinical and environmental domains." This project is developed by the ULPGC by virtue of the grant awarded by the Cabildo Insular de Gran Canaria through the resolution dated 22 May 2023, with an estimated completion date of 31 December 2026.
  3. Incorporation planned for march 2026.
  4. The staff to be recruited through this call for proposals with an indefinite contract is not considered permanent staff under any circumstances. The awarding of the employment contract does not imply any commitment on the part of this Foundation, the University or its dependent entities as to the subsequent incorporation of the interested party into the staff of these entities.
  5. The contract may be terminated for any of the reasons provided for in Royal Legislative Decree 2/2015, of 23 October, approving the revised text of the Workers' Statute Law, or other applicable legislation, paying special attention to article 52(e) regarding the insufficiency of budgetary allocation for maintaining the employment contract. The working time will be 37.5 hours per week, with exclusive dedication to the project.
  6. The gross monthly remuneration will amount to 1970,22€ (including the proportional part of extra payments).
  7. The workplace will be located at the ULPGC research facilities linked to the CIPERBIG research group .
  8. A trial period of six months will be established, during which the employment relationship may be terminated at the request of either party. Situations of temporary incapacity,maternity, adoption or fostering affecting the worker during the trial period will interrupt its calculation.

Candidates must comply with the following conditions:

  1. Nationality:
  • Spanish nationality or that of one of the other member states of the European Union.
  • Whatever his/her nationality, spouses of Spaniards and nationals of other Member States of the European Union.
  • People included into International Agreements concluded by the European Union and ratified by Spain, related to free movement of workers.
  • Foreign candidates not included in the above paragraphs, legally resident in Spain.
  1. Age: Be over eighteen.

  2. Applicants must hold a Master's degree (MECES level 3) in one of the following fields:Computer Engineering, Data Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related disciplines. Candidates with degrees obtained in foreign countries must prove that they are in possession of the corresponding validation or the credential that accredits, where applicable, the homologation Exceptionally, this requirement may be proved during the first six months of the contract.

In the case of applicants with non-approved foreign degrees, and for the purposes of their admission to the competition, these must be translated into Spanish or English.

In case it is necessary, a second interview may be carried out to clarify, complement or deepen in certain aspects necessary to adequately assess this phase.

Once this phase of the selection process is completed, the Commission will publish, on the corporate website of the FCPCT of the ULPGC, a final list with the scores of the applicants interviewed, for which the score or evaluation obtained in the merit assessment phase and in the interview, ordered from highest to lowest score, will be accumulated. This list will be submitted to the Managing Director of the FCPCT, proposing the awarding of the position, according to the score obtained by the applicants.

The Commission may propose the creation of a reserve list in the event of resignation, failure to meet the requirements, or failure to pass the probationary period of the initially designated applicant; future substitutions due to illness, maternity/paternity, etc.; as well as for new positions in the same category. In this case, the reserve list shall be valid for a period of one year from the date of its publication or until a new call for applications is published. Likewise, the Commission may propose to declare the vacancy vacant.
