Blackpool Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) has been officially renewed for a five-year term through to March 2031. We are looking for professional, resilient individuals to act as a frontline liaison for our business community within the Blackpool Town Centre BID area.
This is a high-visibility, professional presence role focused on supporting our local businesses and ensuring the BID area remains a welcoming environment for all. While the objective is non-confrontational, you will be working in a dynamic environment where you must have the skills to handle tension safely, remain calm under pressure, and know exactly when to disengage and report to statutory services., Visual Deterrence & Safety:
- ASB Management: Monitor and address anti-social behaviour (for exapmle, street drinking/begging) by following Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) guidelines and encouraging individuals to move on.
- Supportive Engagement: Professionally engage with vulnerable individuals (e.g., those experiencing homelessness) to offer advice on where help and support can be obtained.
- Retail Support: Provide a visual deterrent against theft and use the radio link system to share intelligence with Shopwatch members.
- Situational Management: Utilise your training to handle potential confrontation with a calm, professional demeanour, ensuring incidents are reported to the Police or Council as necessary.
Business Liaison & Communication
- Direct Support: Act as a primary point of contact for BID levy payers via face-to-face visits, resolving issues and providing a link to BID management.
- Information Distribution: Distribute BID newsletters, information on town centre improvements, and updates regarding planned events.
- Reporting: Log all patrols, incidents, and business interactions accurately using the DISC system and Vicinity (CRM).
Requirements
- Licensing: You must hold a current, valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence.
- Background Check: Appointment is subject to a clear Enhanced DBS check.
- Safety Standards: Candidates must be up to date with ACT (Action Counters Terrorism) awareness and hold a valid First Aid at Work certificate.
- Conflict Resolution: Strong ability to utilise de-escalation techniques and dynamic risk assessment to make safe decisions in real-time.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written English with a high level of attention to detail when writing incident reports.
- IT Literacy: Evidence of IT skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and basic Excel, with the ability to learn digital incident management systems.
- Professionalism: Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to engage effectively with business owners and statutory partners.
- Stamina: Capable of patrolling the Town Centre BID area on foot in all weather conditions., * Do you hold a current, valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence?
- This is a non-confrontational role focused on visual deterrence and business liaison. Are you comfortable with a role that prioritises de-escalation over physical intervention?
- Are you willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check, and do you hold a valid First Aid at Work certificate?
- This role involves patrolling the Town Centre BID area on foot in all weather conditions. Is there anything that would prevent you from doing this?

- GCSE or equivalent (required)
Experience:
- Public-facing conflict resolution: 1 year (required)
