Job description

Responsible for designing, installing and maintaining digital communication networks within our client organisations. The duties include establishing wireless networks, developing digital communication networks and improving cyber-security

Scope

Working remotely, on-site and consisting of IT technical support, system installation, monitoring, documentation, maintenance and other technical duties related to the direct delivery functions of the business

These are the 5 key areas we will need a network engineer to be responsible for:

  • Installation, configuration, maintenance and reliable operation of networks
  • Design and Implementation for Medium and Large Scale deployments
  • Network Security Audits
  • Troubleshoot network errors
  • Manage, optimise and maintain our network-monitoring tool

General Duties/Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking onsite/remote security audit and assurance activities on third party suppliers where requested to do so by the business
  • Provide Network and security SME advice, guidance and support , attending design and change meetings where requested
  • Assist in network design and implementation as well as integration to internal and third party systems
  • Installation, configuration, maintenance and reliable operation of networks ensuring user access to the services they need, network availability and acceptable response times
  • Troubleshoot network errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritising problems, and assessing impact of incidents
  • Manage, optimise and maintain the network-monitoring tool in order to ensure complete monitoring of network, services, hardware and applications to provide optimal performance and consistent end user experience
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to other IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
  • Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions
  • Support disaster recovery and back-up initiative by capacity planning network throughput for remote service restoration
  • Evaluate and recommend security improvements and system upgrades, monitor policies and enforce adherence
  • Development of network solution designs to meet a complex mix of customer requirements
  • Contributing to architectural documentation as part of high- and low-level system designs
  • Preparation and participation in key technical review events during the systems development life-cycle;
  • Technical stakeholder engagement with clients, peers, 3rd party delivery partners and vendors as required
  • Champion for high service standards in technical support team
  • Provide hands on technical support of customer needs and demands, 1st line to 3rd line, ensuring customers' expectations are regularly and proactively managed
  • Ensure all correspondence with prospects and existing clients is handled quickly and effectively

Requirements

  • Extensive Network skills across on-premises and cloud-based technologies
  • In depth knowledge of network security, best practices, and technologies
  • Wifi / Switch / Router
  • CompTIA - would be desirable
  • LAN and WAN technologies and protocols.
