Job description
As an IT Application Support Technician, you'll be the first line of defence for advanced automated material handling systems used in major warehouses and distribution centres. Working remotely, you'll diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues - ensuring maximum uptime for mission-critical operations.
This is more than a helpdesk role - it's an opportunity to work with sophisticated systems, collaborate internationally, and make a real difference to customer operations.
What You'll Be Doing
- Delivering 1st line technical support via the IT Helpdesk
- Taking ownership and tracking incidents, troubleshooting, and resolving issues
- Diagnosing software, system, and hardware-related problems
- Escalating complex issues and supporting 2nd line investigations
- Analysing system reports to identify improvements
- Creating and maintaining knowledgebase articles
- Communicating confidently with customers in high-impact situations
- Collaborating with international teams to ensure system performance
- Occasionally visiting customer sites when remote resolution isn't possible
Requirements
- Degree or equivalent in IT, Computer Science, or similar
- Strong SQL knowledge (essential)
- Experience with Linux systems and tools (essential)
- Solid troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Excellent communication-both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
Bonus skills (nice to have):
- Java support/development
- XML, PL/SQL, MySQL, Oracle, Bash
- Experience in a commercial support or warehousing environment

Working Pattern: 28-day rotating shift pattern. 12-hour day & night shifts (06:00-18:00 / 18:00-06:00). Includes weekends and bank holidays.
