We are seeking a strategic and data-driven IT & DATA Portfolio Manager to take active ownership of our technology initiative pipeline. Unlike traditional administrative roles, this position is a critical steering function designed to bridge the gap between high-level strategy and operational execution. The IT & DATA Portfolio Manager will ensure that our project portfolio is balanced, feasible, and aligned with organizational capacity. The ideal candidate will move beyond simple reporting to provide active portfolio steering, ensuring limited IT & DATA delivery capacity is allocated to the initiatives that deliver the highest strategic value.. You will be responsible for ensuring that investment decisions are based on objective feasibility, specifically validated scope, realistic cost estimates and internal capacity impact.
The role operates within the IT & DATA Portfolio Governance framework and supports executive decision-making through structured portfolio analysis and capacity insights.
Your role and responsibilities
Strategic Portfolio Steering
- Active Portfolio Balancing: Actively balance IT & DATA initiatives against corporate strategy and organizational capacity to ensure the right projects start at the right time.
- Investment Impact Visibility: Provide senior leadership with a clear view of the total investment impact and "invisible" opportunity costs associated with the portfolio.
- Prioritization Framework: Establish and maintain an explicit strategic framework for project selection to eliminate ad-hoc decision-making and informal prioritization.
Capacity & Resource Governance
- Capacity Modeling: Capacity Modeling: Develop and maintain a portfolio-level capacity visibility model to support proactive planning and prioritization across teams.
- Feasibility Validation: Ensure resource availability and cross-team dependencies are validated before project start dates and delivery expectations are confirmed.
- Conflict Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve cross-domain resource conflicts and team overloads before they escalate.
Tactical Intake & Decision Support
- Business Case Quality Control: Partner with Business Owners to ensure business cases provide validated parameters, including mandatory high-level scope (in-scope/out-of-scope) and internal capacity impact.
- Formal Start Governance: Manage the "Gate" process to ensure no project initiates without a formal decision based on validated scope, budget and capacity data.
- Dependency Management: Maintain an integrated overview of dependencies between projects and emerging programs to reduce fragmentation and delivery risk.
Tools & Reporting
- Portfolio Tooling Governance: Ensure central portfolio tooling (Jira) provides a reliable single source of truth for portfolio status, dependencies and resource allocation.

Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT & DATA project/program management, including at least 3 years specifically dedicated to Portfolio Management or Resource Management. Strong preference for experience in portfolio prioritization, IT & DATA investment planning, and aligning strategic roadmaps within complex enterprise environments.
- Proven ability to move beyond administrative coordination to active steering and decision support.
- Strong capability to quantify internal capacity impact and perform "scenario modelling" for portfolio optimization.
- Ability to "negotiate" and steer capacity discussions with senior business and IT leaders, ensuring priorities remain stable.
- Strong knowledge of PMBOK/Prince2 and Agile/Scrum; experience transitioning "classic" project structures toward Agile maturity is a plus.
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field preferred. A Bachelor's degree is acceptable with a minimum of +5 years of relevant professional experience in a similar role.
