Job description
Lead and scale a multidisciplinary engineering organization responsible for delivering an end-to-end IoT platform spanning embedded firmware, mobile applications, cloud infrastructure, and data systems.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a ~20-person engineering organization across firmware, mobile, backend, data, and DevOps teams
- Drive delivery planning, milestones, and execution for an integrated IoT platform
- Oversee system integration across embedded devices, mobile applications, and cloud infrastructure
- Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance across firmware, mobile, backend, and data pipelines
- Provide technical leadership across embedded systems, IoT architecture, and distributed systems
- Establish and enforce quality standards, observability, and testing practices
- Coordinate cross-team dependencies and resolve integration risks early
- Mentor engineering managers and senior engineers while fostering accountability and ownership
- Support team growth and scaling through hiring, organizational planning, and leadership development
Requirements
- Must-Haves:
- 8 years leading engineering teams delivering IoT or distributed systems
- Hands-on background in embedded systems / firmware development
- Strong experience with C programming (GCC toolchains)
- Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and low-power wireless systems
- Familiarity with embedded Linux or Zephyr RTOS environments
- Knowledge of low-power IoT device architecture and hardware/firmware integration
- Ability to read electrical schematics and hardware datasheets
- Experience integrating firmware, mobile applications, and cloud systems
- CI/CD experience across embedded and cloud environments
- Proven ability to lead engineers through delegation, accountability, and systems-based execution
- Engineering degree (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar)
- Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with Nordic Semiconductor (nRF52) platforms
- Knowledge of Zigbee or other low-power wireless protocols
- Background in industrial automation or control systems
- Prior experience working in defense technology or regulated environments
- Startup engineering leadership experience
- Familiarity with AWS-based data platforms and IoT data pipelines
- Edge AI or device-level data processing experience
