Job description

HII Mission Technologies has a need for a Systems Administrator who will for maintain and secure environments in coordination with the Cyber Engineer. This role ensures the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, oversees access control measures, and applies security patches to maintain compliance and system integrity. The specialist provides hands-on support for systems administration tasks including account management, system documentation, software installations, performance tuning, and allocation of mass storage resources.

In this role, the System Administrator will interact closely with end users, evaluate vendor solutions, and make informed recommendations regarding hardware and software acquisitions.

Position will require onsite work located in Annapolis Junction, MD.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain secure development and simulation environments in partnership with the Cyber Engineer.
  • Manage access controls, apply security patches, and ensure compliance with security policies.
  • Oversee smooth operations of multi-user systems, coordinating with network administrators as needed.
  • Set up and maintain administrator and service accounts; maintain system configuration and documentation.
  • Tune system performance and allocate system-wide resources such as mass storage.
  • Install and maintain system-wide software and updates.
  • Interact with end users to troubleshoot issues and provide technical support.
  • Evaluate vendor hardware and software products and prepare recommendations for procurement.
  • Lead or assist with installation, configuration, and integration of new systems or upgrades.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and standards related to computer resource usage.
  • Provide system backup, restoration, and disaster recovery support.

Requirements

  • 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification
  • Comprehensive understanding and application of systems administration principles, concepts, and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure, security practices, and multi-user system operations.
  • Ability to independently perform complex technical tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Skilled in diagnosing and resolving a range of complex technical issues.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for user support and vendor engagement.
  • Clearance: SECRET security clearance required.

Physical Requirements

  • Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the Systems Analyst discipline.
