Job description
A leading energy infrastructure organization is seeking an experienced Telecommunications Field Technician to support operations across the Charleston, SC region. This role is essential to maintaining and improving critical network, transport, and power systems that support outage response, service continuity, and regional reliability., As a Telecommunications Field Technician, you will support installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrade activities across multiple telecommunication platforms. Responsibilities include:
- Installing and wiring routers and switches, including coordination for configuration and troubleshooting across multiple teams.
- Installing and provisioning transport equipment and Ethernet services supporting MPLS networks.
- Conducting testing, deployment, and documentation activities associated with system upgrades, patching, and scheduled maintenance windows.
- Responding to system and service outages, including emergency, storm, and disaster support.
- Participating in maintenance window cutovers, system grooming, and infrastructure modernization efforts.
- Using proper tools, resources, and cross-team collaboration to develop solutions and approach complex field challenges methodically.
Requirements
This is a long-term, stable contract for professionals who want hands-on experience with advanced telecom systems, fiber, transport networks, and field operations., * Working knowledge of fiber circuits, MPLS, and other LAN/WAN data transport circuits.
- Skilled in fiber termination, cable installation, and troubleshooting for a variety of cabling types.
- Understanding of fiber terminations, data circuits, and 48V/135V DC power plant systems.
- Experience with DC power plants, LAN and wireless testing, fiber optic test equipment, and multiple cabling technologies.
- Familiarity with cable identification, cable termination, and Channel Banks.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Electrical or electronic systems background.
- SCADA experience.
- Strong professional communication skills, including technical writing.
Benefits & conditions
- Five days onsite.
- Travel within approximately a 45-minute radius of the Charleston-area base location.
- Initial fieldwork paired with a senior technician using a company vehicle. After training, personal vehicle use is required, with mileage reimbursement provided.
- On-call rotation every other month for a two-week period to support emergency events.

Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Charleston, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
