Job description

The Technology Specialist II performs high level technology implementation, administration and maintenance functions on district wide network, computer and telecommunications systems, and provides quality customer service support to all students and staff, with limited supervision., The following tasks are essential for this position. This list is not inclusive of all responsibilities. Individuals may not perform all of these tasks, or may perform similar related tasks not listed.

  1. Complies with all HIPAA and FERPA related confidentiality requirements.
  2. Develops positive relations with students, parents, school staff and the public.
  3. Implement, administer, integrate and support systems/network/telecommunications using logical thought processing.
  4. Perform fault, configuration, accounting, performance, and security management of the server infrastructure.
  5. Maintain regular backup/restore of systems and server infrastructure.
  6. Implement, administer and support monitoring and alerting systems.
  7. Create, document and maintain efficient systems and strategies to maximize the use of District technological resources.
  8. Develop and ensure compliance to Information Technology Infrastructure Library documentation & associated processes.
  9. Second level escalation point for tickets and IT Staff, and 2nd level operational support of the district network and systems infrastructure.
  10. Establish and maintain good communication with district personnel, school staff, students and the public.
  11. Provide training to Tech Specialist I and Tech Assistant personnel.
  12. Assist with management of Help Desk functions/service tickets, providing timely assistance and maintaining ticket discipline.
  13. Work availability for after school hours maintenance and special projects.
  14. Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Technology & Innovation or the Network & Systems Administrator.

The Technology Specialist II position also has dedicated focus areas that may include one or more of the following:

  1. Google System Administrator.
  2. Active Directory System Administrator.
  3. Network Communications, LAN/Wireless administration.
  4. Telephony.
  5. Paging/Bell Systems.
  6. Server Hardware/OS.
  7. Client Hardware/OS.

Requirements

  1. Minimum of five years experience, and extensive knowledge of network and systems infrastructure, computers, operating systems, servers, applications, topology and other computer related network peripherals, within an enterprise or education institutional environment.
  2. Knowledge and skill set to include server infrastructure, peripherals, LAN/WAN, TCP/IP protocols.
  3. Experience with Voice/UC network telecommunications systems including PBX, VoIP, and paging infrastructure.
  4. Cisco, HPE, Microsoft, and/or Google certified and/or VMWare certifications preferred.
  5. Demonstrated expertise for systems implementation, installation, administration and support.
  6. Troubleshooting skills at the highest level.
  7. Must possess a Valid Arizona Driver's License.
  8. Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card within forty-five (45) days of employment., 1. Computers, peripherals, and client and cloud-based software administration.
  9. Network servers, Local Area Network software and protocols to include TCP/IP administration.
  10. VoIP Intercom and telecommunication systems administration.
  11. Arizona Statute relating to education, preferred.
