Job description
This role is ideal for data center professionals who enjoy diagnosing issues at the hardware and OS level, working closely with network teams, and supporting production environments., As an L2 Data Center Technician, you will be responsible for hands-on infrastructure support, including:
- Troubleshooting a wide variety of servers and isolating break/fix issues in production and build environments
- Diagnosing hardware and system issues using Linux-based troubleshooting methods
- Ordering replacement parts, installing components, and managing defective part returns
- Performing firmware and BIOS updates to maintain supported configurations
- Configuring IP addresses and default login credentials on servers
- Supporting network teams with physical-layer issues such as:
- Replacing damaged or faulty cables
- Re-routing cables to correct ports on servers or switches
- Replacing optics on server and switch ports
- Installing upgraded hardware components
- Temporarily racking, stacking, and cabling servers or switches so network teams can remotely configure devices
- Assisting with installation, deployment, and buildout activities
- Supporting Level 1 tasks as needed to ensure operational continuity
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands-on Data Center Technician experience
- Proven experience with true troubleshooting and break/fix (beyond basic part replacement)
- Ability to diagnose, isolate, and resolve server issues using Linux
- Hands-on experience with rack & stack of servers and data center equipment
- Strong wiring and cabling experience (Cat6/copper required; fiber experience is a plus)
- Comfortable collaborating closely with network and infrastructure teams
- Willingness and ability to work the required 4x10 shift schedule
- Open to supporting both installation/deployment and operational support work
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Ability to troubleshoot independently with minimal guidance
- Strong logical troubleshooting skills using Linux CLI
- Experience supporting network teams with optics, ports, and physical connectivity issues

Benefits & conditions
Must be able to work a 4x10 schedule, including weekends, and be available for one of the following shifts:
- Sunday-Wednesday | 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM
- Sunday-Wednesday | 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM
- Wednesday-Saturday | 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM
- Wednesday-Saturday | 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM, This is a Contract position based out of Sparks, NV. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
