Every project starts with you on site - tape measure in hand, talking to the people who actually use the space, working out what’s needed. Then you come back and design it: your judgement, your drawings, your name on the job. The work is bespoke, so the problems change every time, and because the workshop builds directly from your drawings, accuracy and buildability are the whole game.

You can run a design from first site visit to fabrication without anyone holding your hand. You may have worked as a design engineer, draughtsperson, CAD engineer or fabrication designer - what counts is that you’re confident with AutoCAD, comfortable on site, and your drawings stand up in the workshop. If your ideal week is more drawing board than boardroom, you’ll fit right in.

Design Engineer Up to £55,000 depending on experience Central Belt, Scotland

A design job where you do the whole job. You survey the site yourself, measure up, then design the solution and produce the fabrication drawings in AutoCAD. What you draw gets built - and you’ll see it installed. If you’re a design engineer who’d rather own a project outright than model components inside someone else’s assembly, this is the opposite of that.

• Up to £55,000 depending on experience
• Full project ownership: site survey, design, drawings, installed job
• 2D AutoCAD - practical, buildable design work
• Early finish every Friday, daytime hours Monday to Friday
• A day a week from home once established
