Job description
They are seeking a Lead Application Support Engineer with strong Linux expertise to support their communication platform after deployment to customers. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on troubleshooting complex production issues, performing root-cause analysis, and guiding a team of support engineers.
The ideal candidate is someone who is highly comfortable working in Linux environments, using command-line tools, reviewing logs and traces, and troubleshooting issues across the application, operating system, and customer infrastructure layers.
This is not a traditional Linux administrator, network engineer, or software development role. This position requires someone who can investigate why a production application is failing and determine whether the issue is within the application, Linux environment, network, or an integrated system.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of Application Support Engineers while serving as a senior technical escalation point
- Troubleshoot complex production issues within Linux-based application environments
- Analyze logs, traces, and system behavior using Linux command-line tools
- Perform root-cause analysis across application, OS, and networking layers
- Troubleshoot SIP and communication platform issues
- Analyze Wireshark traces and network captures
- Work directly with customer engineering teams to resolve technical issues
- Collaborate with development teams by identifying bugs and providing technical findings
- Create MOPs (Methods of Procedure) for production changes, upgrades, and maintenance activities
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience supporting production applications in Linux environments
- Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Linux or similar Linux operating systems
- Advanced Linux command-line troubleshooting skills
- Experience analyzing logs, traces, and system performance issues
- Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, troubleshooting)
- Experience with SIP or VoIP technologies
- Ability to analyze Wireshark captures
- Strong customer-facing communication skills
- Previous experience as a Lead Engineer, Technical Lead, or mentor preferred

- Telecommunications, VoIP, IMS, or carrier-grade communication platforms
- Linux scripting
- VMware vSphere
- Diameter protocol
- Cisco IOS
