Job description

We’re partnering with an established telecommunications technology company seeking an Application Support Engineer to support their enterprise communication platform after deployment. This is a highly technical, customer-facing role focused on troubleshooting production application issues across the application, Linux operating system, and customer environment.

The right person will be someone who enjoys investigation and problem-solving - someone who can look at logs, processes, system behavior, and network interactions to determine why an application is not working properly and identify the true source of the issue.

This is not a traditional Linux administration role. The focus is not building servers or managing infrastructure - it is using Linux, diagnostic tools, and technical expertise to troubleshoot complex application issues in production environments.

What You’ll Do

  • Troubleshoot complex application issues within Linux-based telecommunications platforms
  • Investigate production problems by analyzing application logs, Linux processes, services, and system behavior
  • Determine whether issues are caused by software changes, customer environment changes, Linux configuration, network interactions, or system conflicts
  • Work directly with customer engineering teams to diagnose and resolve technical issues
  • Use Linux command-line tools and diagnostic utilities to isolate problems
  • Analyze SIP signaling, RTP traffic, and network interactions as they relate to application functionality
  • Capture and review packet traces using tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump
  • Gather technical data, logs, and troubleshooting findings for engineering teams
  • Support software updates, patches, maintenance activities, and production changes
  • Create and maintain Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for technical activities

Requirements

Do you enjoy digging into complex technical issues, finding the root cause, and solving problems that others can’t?, * 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise applications or technical platforms in production environments

  • Strong troubleshooting experience across applications, Linux operating systems, and customer environments
  • Comfortable working in Linux environments using command-line tools for investigation and diagnostics
  • Experience analyzing logs, processes, services, and system behavior to identify root causes
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking, DNS, and basic network troubleshooting concepts
  • Experience troubleshooting SIP and VoIP technologies
  • Ability to analyze packet captures using tools such as Wireshark
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with customers and engineering teams, * Experience supporting telecommunications, VoIP, or enterprise communication platforms
  • Familiarity with SIP-based applications, RTP, or Session Border Controllers (SBCs)
  • Experience with Linux distributions such as Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar
  • Exposure to Diameter protocol
  • Experience with virtualization environments such as VMware
  • Basic scripting experience with Bash, Python, or similar tools
