Job description
- Execute and/or monitor automated computer applications.
- Follow simple standard operating procedures (SOP) to troubleshoot failures.
- Carry out standard customer service activities and handle simple customer enquiries following predefined scripts.
- Complete requests within a predefined SLA/SLO.
- Ability to monitor the automated job scheduler.
- Able to identify failed job alerts and react.
- Learn processes and procedures for the Computer Operations.
- Become familiar with the SOP repository.
- Ability to follow simple SOP for failed jobs and alerts.
- Escalate within Computer Operations.
- Learn the department’’s change control policies.
- Learn how Computer Operations fits into the change process.
- Able to execute simple change requests and tasks within the change window defined in the change control.
- Have knowledge of the duties and processes of Computer Operations.
- Have an understanding of an ITSM tool and the ability to use one.
- Have an understanding of ITIL.
- Ability to learn how to apply these concepts to DSG’’s tools and processes.
- Ability to use Windows OS and MS Office tools to perform duties of Computer Operations.
- Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation where relevant to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology and industry best practices through ongoing education and reading specialist media.
- Contribute to reviewing existing operations in one’’s own area of work and generate new ideas to assist in identifying continuous improvements.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Windows OS and MS Office tools.
- Ability to monitor automated job schedulers.
- Ability to identify failed job alerts and react.
- Basic understanding of ITSM tools.
- Knowledge of ITIL concepts.
- Ability to follow SOPs for troubleshooting and alerts.
- Flexibility to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new processes and procedures.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Required Education
- Computer trade school, or an associate degree or higher
Preferred Skills
- Experience with change control policies.
- Familiarity with DSG’’s tools and processes.
- External professional accreditation related to IT operations.
