Job description

Become a Medical Assistance Program Technician with the Department of Health (DOH) and help strengthen access to important medical services across Pennsylvania. This fast-paced role places you at the center of a program that supports Pennsylvanians who depend on accurate and timely claim processing. Every task you complete helps providers and cardholders receive the support they need without delay. Join a driven team that works hard to improve health outcomes and deliver reliable service across the Commonwealth., This position focuses on processing and reviewing complex medical and transportation claims within the Chronic Renal Disease Program. You will support providers and cardholders by ensuring accuracy, thoroughness, and timely responses. As a Medical Assistance Program Technician, you will perform the following duties:

  • Invoice Review: Examine provider invoices for accuracy, eligibility details, and required documentation
  • Claim Adjudication: Determine payment amounts, reconcile service codes, and verify supporting information
  • System Research: Use multiple electronic systems to verify data, calculate payments, and resolve discrepancies
  • Provider Support: Explain billing procedures and respond to inquiries from providers and cardholders
  • Record Maintenance: Track claim issues, update program data, and assist with transportation applications
  • Quality Oversight: Approve or reject claims processed by staff and provide technical assistance to improve accuracy

In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. Requirements

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of para-technical experience which involved reviewing and responding to inquiries relating to applicable services or benefits in health care insurance programs, health care services, or medical assistance program services; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
