Job description
A manufacturing services entity seeks a Quality Assurance Technician I to conduct inspections of machined, sheet metal, and 3D printed components. The role involves performing quality inspections, supporting the disposition of nonconforming products, and assisting with quality improvement initiatives. This position requires attention to detail, knowledge of GD&T, and the ability to use various inspection equipment to ensure components meet quality standards., * Conduct part inspections of machined, sheet metal, and 3D printed components using metrology equipment, micrometers, microscopes, optical comparators, gauge pins, and calipers.
- Verify parts meet engineering drawings and ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) specifications.
- Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
- Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records.
- Assist with Material Review Board (MRB) activities to disposition nonconforming products.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities for quality issues.
- Assist with Return Material Authorizations (RMAs) from customers and support the creation of Failure Analysis Reports.
- Operate inspection equipment, including optical comparators and CMMs, and assist in creating programs for such equipment.
Requirements
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in a manufacturing environment within a quality role is required. This includes two years of experience with ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) and reading drawings, and two years of experience with inspection equipment like micrometers and calipers.
Technical Skills: Familiarity with machined parts, sheet metal, powder coating, and welding is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of quality experience in manufacturing environments.
- Experience operating high-tech inspection equipment such as optical comparators and CMMs.
- Experience with the inspection of 3D printed components.
- A technical certification or vocational training in quality inspection or metrology.
- Experience in contract manufacturing or high-mix production environments.
- ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or a similar certification.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $25.00 to $40.00 per hour.
