Job description

  • The client is seeking a hands-on AR/VR Software Integration Device Engineer to support high-visibility demo operations for a unified platform spanning devices from immersive VR headsets to lightweight AR glasses.

  • This role ensures demo devices are always updated, configured, and functioning flawlessly for executive-level product demonstrations and events.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Set up, configure, and maintain AR/VR devices demos across multiple hardware form factors.

  • Support and troubleshoot demo environments in real-time during internal and external events.

  • Perform software-side tasks including flashing builds, sideloading applications, updating firmware, and ensuring devices are QA’d and embedded with the latest stable builds.

  • Collaborate with engineering and QA teams to identify, log, and resolve device or software bugs.

  • Maintain detailed step-by-step technical documentation to create scalable, repeatable provisioning processes.

  • Manage device readiness on a daily/weekly basis to ensure smooth operation across demo environments.

  • Provide on-site demo support in the Bay Area (primarily Mountain View) and travel to conferences, trade shows, and offsite events (domestic and international).

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of experience in device engineering, software integration, or XR technology support.

  • Proficiency with ADB, Android build tools, and general debugging/troubleshooting for Android-based systems.

  • Experience working with AR/VR hardware (e.g., Meta/Oculus, Magic Leap, Microsoft HoloLens, Ray-Ban Meta, or similar).

  • Strong understanding of both software configuration and device-level QA processes.

  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills - ability to standardize and scale device setup procedures.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with last-minute changes and short travel lead times.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time (including international events).

Desired Experience (Nice to have):

  • Prior experience supporting demo environments, developer hardware, or early-stage XR prototypes.

  • Basic hardware knowledge to manage calibrated or pre-assembled devices.

  • Strong cross-functional communication with product management, demo, and engineering teams.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
