Job description

Experteer Overview Senior Firmware Software Engineer for the Flight Software team at Varda, building reliable, in-orbit software for spacecraft, buses, and reentry capsules. You work across requirements, design, testing, and flight operations to ensure spacecraft perform as intended. You will deliver bare metal, RTOS, or Linux-based firmware and drive high system availability through rigorous V&V. This role blends hands-on development with system-level thinking in a fast-moving space startup. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape in-space capabilities that power the orbital economy. Compensation / Benefits * Develop firmware to control spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule across missions * Own all software development stages from design to integration and testing * Perform requirements capture and design trades for open-ended problems * Write structured C++ software for embedded processors in bare metal, RTOS, or Linux environments * Build highly reliable software systems and ensure quality via V&V techniques Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in computer science, math, physics, engineering or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software * 5+ years of experience in development of spacecraft or safety-critical software * Experience with real-time embedded hardware/software systems * Proficiency in C++ and understanding of language concepts Key requirements * Health & Wellness: comprehensive medical plans for employees and dependents * Paid time off and holidays * Stock options and equity incentives * 401(k) with company match * Relocation support * gym and wellness reimbursements
