Faculty / School This role is within the Design Subject Area, in the School of Design Innovation, in the Faculty of Technology, Arts and Culture. The subject area consists of three distinct but inter-related areas - Design Crafts, Product Design and Interior Design, with the applicant being based in the Product Design team but working across the subject area for a significant part of their role., This role is critical to curriculum delivery, the School’s Digital Transformation agenda and to the University’s future-facing ambitions under Imagine 2031. It will deliver essential, core 2D and 3D CAD teaching (Solidworks, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and develop capability in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) software for the Design Subject area. A willingness to learn and develop proficiency in additional subject-specific software, including AutoCAD, SketchUp and Rhino would be beneficial. Support will be provided as required. The post will also require broader technology integration skills including 3D printing, scanning, VR, generative AI. These areas of expertise will underpin emerging and future roles and core competencies for our graduates in the design sector. These will include digital materials specialists, circularity analysts, sustainable product technologists, computational designers and immersive-environment creators. Requirements
We are looking for an experienced and ambitious lecturer within the subject area of Design, with specific expertise in digital design software, visual communication and current industrial design practices. You will have experience of current industry software, teaching in Higher Education, and be expected to contribute to the future and ongoing development of the design subject area. You will have access to a range of training opportunities and facilities relevant to your on-going professional development/practice and the ability to develop and maintain your own scholarly and/or professional profile., Communication Empathy Critical Thinking Time Management Adaptability Collaboration Honest and Compassionate Innovative and Creative Community Minded Education BSc / BA Degree
