Job description
This is an opportunity to register your interest in future Data Infrastructure Engineer contract roles within the Worcester area. Roles of this type sit at the intersection of data engineering and infrastructure, working to design and optimise the systems, pipelines and platforms that collect, process and deliver data across organisations. You could be working with teams that value technical depth, collaborative problem-solving and a commitment to data quality and reliability., * Designing and building robust data pipelines that move data reliably from source systems to analytics and operational platforms
- Working with distributed systems, microservices and containerised infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes) to create scalable data solutions
- Collaborating with stakeholders to gather data requirements and ensure pipeline alignment with business needs
- Implementing and monitoring data quality checks to maintain the integrity and reliability of data flowing through systems
- Contributing to infrastructure-as-code practices using tools such as Terraform and managing CI/CD workflows
- Supporting integration across cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and on-premises systems
- Writing efficient code in languages such as Python, Java, SQL or Bash to transform and move data
- Troubleshooting data pipeline failures and optimising performance across the data stack
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience designing and building data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
- Strong proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python, Java, or similar)
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs and microservices architecture
- Experience with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) or equivalent infrastructure tooling
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS or GCP)
- Knowledge of data quality principles and practices
- Ability to engage with non-technical stakeholders to understand data requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field
Nice-to-have
- Master’s degree
- Google Cloud Data Engineer certification
- Experience with SAP systems (SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, RISE)
- Familiarity with .NET/ASP.NET, Spring Boot or similar enterprise frameworks
- Knowledge of BPMN, UML or data modelling standards
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform)
- Exposure to power BI or similar analytics platforms
