Job description
Magellan Financial is hiring a full-time, in-office IT Help Desk I for our Topeka headquarters. You will be the hands-on first line of technology support for the people behind our advisor operations, annuity workflows, marketing, recruiting, and events. When an employee loses access, a workstation fails, or a conference room stops cooperating, you will own the problem through resolution., * Troubleshoot Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, user accounts, PCs, peripherals, printers, basic network issues, and office A/V.
- Image, deploy, repair, upgrade, and configure workstations and desk technology.
- Work directly with employees, explain issues in plain language, set realistic expectations, and close the loop after the fix.
- Document completed work and recurring problems so that the next response is faster and the broader environment improves.
- Escalate intelligently when access, risk, or complexity exceeds your authority, bringing useful evidence and a clear diagnosis instead of simply forwarding the problem.
Requirements
This is a support-first position, not a dead-end support job. As you demonstrate technical judgment, reliability, and disciplined follow-through, you can earn scoped exposure to Microsoft administration, Entra ID, endpoint management, network equipment, server infrastructure, cloud technologies, and scripting or automation work., * At least one year of practical IT experience in help desk, desktop support, school or campus IT, an MSP, field service, computer repair, military or public-sector IT, or a comparable hands-on environment.
- Working experience with Windows, Microsoft 365, user accounts, hardware, printers, A/V, basic networking, or similar internal-support technologies.
- The patience to help a frustrated nontechnical employee without becoming dismissive or defensive.
- Strong documentation, follow-through, and escalation habits.
- Technical curiosity paired with the humility to handle imaging, cables, desk setups, account issues, and recurring support works well.
- A reliable daily commute to our Topeka headquarters and a genuine commitment to working in person.
Certifications are helpful but not required. Home labs, PC builds, networking projects, scripting, and other evidence of hands-on curiosity are valuable when paired with real support judgment.
