Data Center Technician

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Center Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, installing, and troubleshooting critical data center infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Your expertise will help support our clients’ digital operations by ensuring seamless network connectivity, equipment functionality, and system integrity. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive technician eager to work in a fast-paced environment where technical proficiency and customer service excellence are paramount., * Install, configure, and maintain data center equipment including servers, networking hardware, fiber optic systems, and telecommunications systems.

• Conduct fiber splicing, cable termination, structured cabling installation (such as Cat5, Cat6), and network wiring to ensure robust connectivity.
• Troubleshoot hardware and network issues using diagnostic tools, electrical testing equipment, and schematics to identify root causes swiftly.
• Perform routine inspections of electrical systems (AC/DC), low-voltage wiring, and power supplies to prevent outages or failures.
• Support fiber optic systems installation and testing, including optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) testing and fiber optic splicing.
• Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, schematics, and repair logs; update records regularly for compliance and future reference.
• Assist with the setup of communication systems such as VoIP telephony, Cisco routers, Juniper devices, and other telecommunication equipment.
• Ensure safety standards are followed during all installation and maintenance activities in accordance with NEC (National Electrical Code) guidelines.

• Proven experience as a service technician or in a similar data center role with hands-on experience in IT infrastructure or telecommunications environments.
• Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including Ethernet, LAN/WAN configurations, network cabling (Cat5/Cat6), and network installation procedures.
• Familiarity with Cisco routers, Juniper devices, Avaya systems, and VoIP technology is highly desirable.
• Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams related to cabling systems and telecommunications infrastructure.
• Experience with fiber optic systems installation-including splicing-and testing using specialized diagnostic tools such as OTDRs.
• Competence in using hand tools, power tools, electrical testers (such as ohmmeters), and telecommunication testing equipment safely and effectively.
• Electrical experience including low-voltage electrical wiring, NEC compliance knowledge, and troubleshooting AC/DC electrical systems.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues quickly using diagnostic tools; proactive approach to maintenance tasks.
• Valid certifications or training related to structured cabling (e.g., BICSI certification), fiber splicing certification, or electrical licensing is a plus but not mandatory.
