Job description

Network Cabling Services (NCS) is seeking a motivated Data Center Technician I to support structured cabling and infrastructure projects in data center and commercial environments.

This is an entry-level role ideal for individuals looking to build a career in low-voltage, fiber optics, and data center technologies. You will work under the direction of Lead Technicians and Project Managers to assist with installations, cable management, and basic troubleshooting., * Assist with installation of structured cabling systems (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fiber)

  • Support cable pulling, routing, dressing, and labeling in data center environments
  • Help install server racks, cabinets, ladder racks, and cable trays
  • Assist with terminating copper cabling (jacks, patch panels)
  • Support basic fiber optic handling and preparation
  • Maintain clean and organized job sites
  • Follow installation drawings, instructions, and company standards
  • Use basic tools to support installation and cable management
  • Follow all safety guidelines and job site protocols
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Safety protocol adherence?, * 0-2 years of experience in structured cabling, construction, or related field

  • Interest in data centers, fiber optics, or low-voltage systems
  • Basic understanding of tools and installation practices (training provided)
  • Ability to follow directions and work in a team environment
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Authorized to work in the United States, * Exposure to commercial construction or cabling projects
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and cable installation practices
  • OSHA 10 certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Desire to grow into a Technician II or Lead role

Work Environment

  • Primarily data center and commercial job sites
  • Fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • May require travel, overtime, and weekend work

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand, bend, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
  • Comfortable working in active construction environments
