Job description

The Quality Assurance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring that all meals produced by Unity Meals meet company, customer, regulatory, and nutritional standards. Unity Meals cooks, manufactures, assembles, and packages breakfast, lunch, and supper meals for children that are delivered daily to schools Monday through Friday.

The QA Technician monitors production processes to verify that recipes are followed accurately, ensuring proper nutrition, food safety, quality, and consistency. This position also verifies that meals are assembled and packed according to specifications and completes routine audits, inspections, and documentation to support compliance with company and regulatory requirements., * Monitor food production processes to ensure recipes are followed according to approved formulations and nutritional specifications.

  • Verify ingredients, measurements, and preparation methods are consistent with established standards.
  • Conduct line inspections to ensure meals are assembled, packaged, and labeled correctly.
  • Ensure meal components, portion sizes, and packaging configurations meet customer and program requirements.
  • Perform routine quality checks throughout production and packaging operations.
  • Complete quality assurance audits, inspections, and verification activities as required.
  • Review production records and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify and report quality, food safety, or compliance issues to supervisors and management.
  • Assist with corrective action investigations and follow-up activities.
  • Monitor adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation procedures, and food safety programs.
  • Verify product traceability and lot coding requirements are properly maintained.
  • Maintain accurate QA records, inspection logs, audit reports, and other required documentation.
  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits as needed.
  • Collaborate with Production, Warehouse, and Food Safety teams to maintain product quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with USDA, FDA, state, local, and company food safety regulations.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Safety regulations?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Associate degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, Food Safety, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in food manufacturing, food production, quality assurance, or a related environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety principles, GMPs, HACCP, and sanitation practices preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow recipes, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to complete documentation and maintain records accurately.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in refrigerated and food production environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
