Job description

We are now recruiting for a Senior Business Insight Analyst to join the Capita HAAS Team. The Health Assessment Advisory Service is delivered on behalf of the DWP & DfC by Capita.

The Senior Business Insight Analyst will lead the analysis of large and complex datasets to identify trends, risks, opportunities and actionable recommendations that improve business performance.

The role requires the ability to translate complex data into clear, credible insight and present findings confidently to senior stakeholders, influencing decision-making and operational outcomes.

The successful candidate will be a highly capable and experienced analyst who works with a high degree of autonomy, uses sound judgement, and takes ownership for delivering high-quality insight and reporting solutions.

The successful candidate will not just be data literate, must also be able to ‘tell the story’, and be comfortable with engaging at director level within the organisation.

This is a home based role.

What you’ll be doing :

  • Own the analysis of large, complex datasets to identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities, translating these into actionable insight that drives operational and strategic performance.
  • Provide clear, evidence-based recommendations that shape decision-making at both operational and senior leadership levels, ensuring alignment to business and contractual objectives.
  • Present insight, analysis and strategic recommendations with credibility and impact to senior stakeholders, including Director level, influencing outcomes and driving accountability.
  • Exercise autonomy in scoping, prioritising and delivering high-value analytical outputs, ensuring alignment to business priorities and maximising commercial and operational impact.
  • Translate complex business challenges into structured analytical approaches, delivering scalable insight and reporting solutions that support long-term performance improvement.
  • Lead critical thinking and challenge across the business, interrogating assumptions, identifying root causes, and driving proactive, data-led improvement opportunities.
  • Establish robust documentation, training and knowledge transfer frameworks to embed capability within the business and ensure sustainable use of insight and reporting solutions.
  • Champion continuous professional and technical development, leveraging corporate initiatives and external best practice to enhance capability and drive innovation within the function., The Health Assessment Advisory Service (HAAS) arranges and carries out assessments for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Department for Communities (DfC). The purpose of the assessment is to understand how an illness or disability affects a person’s daily life. After the assessment, the DWP/DfC makes the decision as to whether the individual will receive benefits.

Requirements

  • Advanced analytical capability, with a proven track record of leading the interrogation of large, complex datasets to generate strategic insight and inform high-impact decision-making.
  • Demonstrable extensive and deep knowledge of Excel, Power BI & Data Analytics and Insights experience
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience engaging and challenging senior stakeholders (including Director level) to drive informed, outcome-focused decisions.
  • Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex analysis and insight clearly, concisely and persuasively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong commercial and strategic acumen, with the ability to translate data into meaningful insight aligned to business objectives, contractual outcomes, and performance improvement priorities.
  • Proven ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, setting priorities, managing competing demands, and delivering high-value outputs in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Advanced problem-solving capability, with a structured and analytical approach to identifying root causes, challenging assumptions, and driving data-led solutions.
  • Experience designing and implementing scalable reporting, analytics and insight solutions that support sustainable performance management and continuous improvement.
  • Strong leadership mindset, with the ability to embed analytical best practice, upskill stakeholders, and build capability across teams through effective knowledge transfer and coaching.
