About This Session
Crashes and failures are inevitable, but they don’t have to be disruptive. Temporal is an open source Durable Execution platform that enables you to build scalable applications that can overcome service outages, process restarts, software defects, and even hardware failures. This technology has been running in production for years at companies such as Netflix, Snap, Vodafone, and Yum! Brands, and it is increasingly being used as a foundation for reliable agentic AI applications. During this hands-on workshop, which requires no prior knowledge of Temporal, you’ll learn the basics of Temporal application development using the Java programming language. You’ll begin with key Durable Execution concepts, then write code using Temporal’s core APIs, and finish by observing how your application handles common failure scenarios at runtime. Along the way, you’ll see why these patterns are especially useful for developers building long-running, reliable applications, including systems that call LLMs, orchestrate AI agents, or coordinate human-in-the-loop approvals.
