Job description

The Careers Service is seeking to appoint a proactive and organised IT Manager to provide temporary cover during a period of paternity leave. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience within a dynamic and user-focused team delivering digital services to students, alumni, and employers.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the Service's IT systems, websites, and digital platforms. Working with a degree of autonomy and under the guidance of senior staff, the post holder will:

  • Support the operational delivery of IT services across the Careers Service
  • Assist with the testing and implementation of updates to systems and applications
  • Help ensure the smooth running of the network and key IT systems
  • Support compliance with data protection and security policies

You will also work closely with colleagues to understand user needs and contribute to practical IT solutions that improve both service delivery and user experience.

Requirements

Good communication skills, You will have:

  • Experience of providing first-line IT support in a professional setting
  • A good understanding of network and systems administration
  • Familiarity with testing and deploying updates to IT systems or applications
  • A methodical and collaborative working style, with a focus on user needs
  • Awareness of data protection, information security and best practice in IT service delivery
