Job description

This forward-thinking secondary school, serving students aged 11-16, boasts excellent facilities and a supportive, ambitious culture. The Head of IT will lead the school's IT strategy, managing curriculum delivery in computing and technology, and overseeing the integration of digital tools across all departments.

This is a leadership post for someone with vision, strong organisational skills, and a passion for digital learning. You'll work with a skilled team to drive innovation, improve outcomes, and ensure students are ready for a rapidly changing world.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and develop the IT/Computing department, including curriculum planning and delivery across KS3 and KS4.

Manage and mentor staff within the department, fostering high standards of teaching and learning.

Oversee the school's digital infrastructure and support its effective use in learning and school operations.

Monitor student progress, implement strategies to raise achievement and track departmental impact.

Collaborate with senior leadership to develop whole-school digital strategy and ensure alignment with school goals.

Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in teaching, learning and technology.

Manage budgets, resources, and professional development to strengthen the department.

Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential.

Proven experience in teaching IT/Computing at secondary level.

Leadership experience (head of department, or aspiring to lead).

Strong subject knowledge in IT and digital technologies, and enthusiasm for advancing student digital literacy.

Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.

A collaborative mindset, resilient attitude and passion for student success and innovation.

Ability to drive change and motivate staff and students in a dynamic environment.
