Job description

The ICT Assistant will report to the IT Manager and will play a key role in maintaining, supporting and improving the company's ICT infrastructure, systems, and software. The successful candidate will follow daily schedules and tasks as assigned by the IT Manager, while remaining flexible to respond to operational priorities., * Assist in the development, support, maintenance, and security of all ICT systems across the business.

  • Support the installation, configuration, updating and testing of hardware, software, and business applications.
  • Provide technical advice, troubleshooting, and hands-on assistance to staff across all offices.
  • Assist with user account creation, permissions, and system access across various software platforms.
  • Upskill, share knowledge, and collaborate closely with other members of the ICT team.
  • Produce and maintain accurate documentation, including procedures, asset records, and support guides.
  • Contribute to software rollouts, updates, and ongoing system improvements.

Duties

  • Act as first-line support for all staff, resolving issues via telephone, email, remote support, or in person.
  • Monitor and maintain computer networks, ensuring all actions are logged and followed through.
  • Maintain, upgrade, and repair PCs, laptops, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve PC, application, network, and peripheral errors efficiently.
  • Install and configure hardware, ensuring full compatibility with existing systems.
  • Support the installation and basic configuration of networking equipment such as switches, routers, access points, and VoIP devices.
  • Install and maintain standard network cabling; perform basic diagnostic and recovery routines on network equipment.
  • Assist with software deployment, updates, and licence management.
  • Support security best practices, including antivirus checks, patch management and safe-usage guidance for staff.

Daily Tasks

  • Ensure computers, devices, and systems are fully functional across all sites.
  • Perform visual checks of rooms, equipment, and IT facilities, reporting issues promptly.
  • Act as a point of contact for ICT queries, providing timely support via telephone, email, or remote desktop tools.
  • Maintain and set up ICT and audio-visual equipment as required for meetings and internal events.
  • Keep up-to-date knowledge of the organisation's ICT network, software, systems, and components.
  • Carry out other duties as reasonably requested by the IT Manager.

Requirements

  • Experience with legal case management software would be beneficial.
  • The ability to provide exceptional ICT support within a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Confidence communicating technical information to non-technical staff.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse issues and take appropriate action.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new technologies and systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A confident, professional, and approachable manner.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
