Job description

As an Information Governance Assurance Officer the place holder will assist and deputise for the Information Governance Assurance Manager with activities related to the delivery and coordination of Data Security and Protection Toolkit(DSPT), CQC and assurance of all information governance activities across the Trust including Subject Access Requests (SAR) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA). The post holder will be accountable for supporting the Trust IG function in achieving its governance responsibilities and ensuring that the Trust staff are directed and guided to identify and achieve the highest standards of IG activities in all areas.

Requirements

  • Educated to Degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent significant experience.
  • Formal Qualification in Information Governance and Data Protection (E.g., ISEB or Data protection/GDPR Practitioner or equivalent) or equivalent significant experience.
  • Evidence of continuing education and professional development
  • Significant experience of data handling, manipulation and analysis related to governance relevant metrics.
  • Experience of working with sensitive/confidential information
  • Excellent information management skills, including the use of Excel spreadsheet and database software.
  • Ability to analyse complex information and present in a meaningful manner.
  • Ability to write board level and committee reports.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams
  • Understanding of NHS Information
  • Governance including Data protection statutory guidance and requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of the principles of good governance and assurance including the principles and application of a risk- based approach to IG
  • Knowledge of the Information Governance functions of an NHS Trust underpinned by experience of working in a governance environment.
  • Ability to work across teams, working with staff at all levels within the organisation.
  • Ability to build and maintain good working relationships.
  • Ability to use informed persuasive language to influence others
  • Able to demonstrate high attention to detail in routine work
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and work with minimum supervision and use own initiative
  • Ability to present to a group of staff
  • Production of reports presenting data in an accurate and meaningful way
  • Effective problem solving, decision making and analytical skills
  • Able to prioritise and meet deadlines, working in an organised way with excellent time management skills
  • Negotiate on difficult and controversial issues including performance and change
  • Takes decisions on difficult and contentious issues where there may be a number of courses of action.
