Job description
We are working with a leading organisation that requires an experienced IT Engineer to join on a contract basis. This role is suited to a contractor who is confident working independently, delivering infrastructure and support services, and ensuring systems remain robust and secure.
The successful contractor will provide hands-on technical expertise across a range of IT environments, with opportunities to support both project delivery and BAU operations. Key Responsibilities
- Provide 2nd/3rd line support across Windows and cloud environments.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot servers, networks, and end-user devices.
- Support cloud migration projects and infrastructure upgrades.
- Ensure security best practices are maintained across systems.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to resolve technical issues.
Requirements
- Strong background in IT infrastructure engineering and support.
- Expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, O365, and Azure.
- Experience with networking (switches, routers, firewalls).
- Knowledge of virtualisation technologies (VMware/Hyper-V).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working as an independent contractor, able to deliver outcomes with minimal supervision.
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Exposure to scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash, or similar).
- Familiarity with backup, disaster recovery, and security tools.
