The Role
This is a hands-on field engineer position with real variety. Some days you'll be setting up devices, installing apps and helping staff get working quickly. - Deliver high-quality day-to-day support - device setup, user issues, classroom tech, printers, tablets, connectivity.
- Troubleshoot deeper issues when the obvious fixes don't work - aiming for root cause.
- Support Windows domain environments (Active Directory and Group Policy), including practical configuration and software deployment where appropriate.
- Coordinate third parties confidently - firewall vendors, ISPs, VoIP and print/AV suppliers - raise the right tickets, provide evidence, chase, and drive issues to resolution.
- Document what you've done and keep stakeholders updated in plain English.
Requirements

- A calm, likeable communication style - you can build trust quickly and explain technical issues to non-technical users
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 fundamentals and Windows support in an education or corporate environment
- Active Directory and Group Policy, plus the confidence to learn and apply more as needed
- Networking fundamentals (especially DHCP/DNS) and practical Wi-Fi and connectivity troubleshooting instincts
- Experience with Windows deployments and migration of user data at desk side.
- Happy with both simple tasks as well as complex troubleshooting
- Ability to travel independently between customer sites across Dorset and the Southampton area
- Working in line with safeguarding procedures. Appointment is subject to an Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
Desirable Experience

- RMM tools
- Intune/MDM (including JAMF)
- Ubiquiti Products
- Papercut or uniFLOW
- Exposure to VoIP or AV systems, If you like variety, enjoy helping people, and take pride in leaving a site in better shape than you found it - without needing someone to tell you what to do next - we'd love to hear from you.
