Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic professional who has a systematic and creative approach to bridge the gap from business (data) needs to functional requirements. Someone who can help lift DLL to the next level of Data Management by improving Data Management practices and translating the newest Data Management technologies into concrete business value proposals. The focus for this role will both be on Data Projects and on improving our Data Definitions by strengthening the quality, consistency, and usability of definitions to enable shared understanding and correct data usage across the organization.

In the role of Global Data Management Consultant, you will help to transform the Data Management Department and implement the new Data Strategy. Your focus will be on translating the business data needs of multiple product owners into functional requirements in close cooperation with the BI architects. .

Day to day:

You can expect a data team of approximately 60 enthusiastic people (Data Management, Data Governance, Global Reporting and IT Delivery) working on multiple projects to realize the Data Management strategy for DLL. The Data Management Department resides within the new Digital Domain. It has a direct reporting line to the Chief Digital Officer and operates as a liaison between all departments involved in data projects. The activities are an important step in the Data Management journey of DLL.

This function is based in Eindhoven (hybrid) and is a position in which you can actively contribute to creating the future of Data Management for DLL. You will be part of the Data Management team, which is focussed on a variety of data related projects. Whenever there is a global or corporate request, business or regulatory, our team performs an intake to understand the requirements and assess the feasibility and priority. We then coordinate the request from start to finish to make sure that the right data ends up with the right requestor. As we are a financial institution and highly regulated, we need to make sure that our data management practices are compliant and our data is well governed. We do this by ensuring that the data elements are defined, data models are in place, data lineage, the right ownership is assigned, data delivery agreements are in place, and our solutions are IT-governed. The requests range from small changes to larger multi-year projects, and we work on multiple projects at the same time. The focus can be on sourcing data from the different front and back-office systems used in the different country offices, or data delivery via our unified data product.

This includes the following activities:

  • Own and improve the end to end process for defining, maintaining, and improving data definitions.
  • Resolve inconsistencies and ambiguities in existing definitions.
  • Ensure alignment between business definitions, technical implementation, and actual data usage.
  • Drive innovation in data requirements and definitions using AI.
  • Support new data requests for existing or new data consumers.
  • Partnering to understand people, process, system and links to data.
  • Support business stakeholders with clarifying the business requirements and translating them into functional requirements.
  • Ensuring projects adherence to data management best practices (definitions, data models, data architecture, data lineage, reference data, data quality, etc.).
  • Facilitating communication between technical teams and business requestors.
  • Advising on data availability and existing data flows.
  • Provide content guidance to the assigned Data Management projects to ensure that deliverables meet requirements.
  • Work with DLL offices around the world to source, test and reconcile data
  • Liaise functionally with subject matter experts in the business domains (e.g., Risk, Finance, Asset Management, Commercial).
  • Liaise with technical experts in IT to develop the data management infrastructure and associated tools.
  • Ensure effective implementation of the deliverables in the line organization and ensure business ownership.
  • Act as a delegated Product Owner for our Enterprise Data Warehouse by maintaining updated and prioritized backlogs for the development teams.
  • Assess project plans with a heavy data component on their strategic relevance and feasibility.
  • Manage and control scope, timelines and budget according to agreed project plans.
  • Manage project members to ensure effective and efficient execution of activities.
  • Effectively manage stakeholders at senior management level in the DLL and Rabobank organization.

All members enjoy

  • Two working days per year volunteering for a local charity.
  • Health and Wellness program including healthy food, free health checks, fun health & vitality activities.
  • Flexible hours with possibility to work from home
