Job description
We are seeking an organised and detail-oriented Data Officer to join an outstanding secondary school in Salford. This is a key administrative role within the school, responsible for managing and maintaining accurate data across all school systems. The successful candidate will support staff, leadership, and governors by providing reliable, up-to-date information, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and enabling informed decision-making. Role Overview: As Data Officer, you will be responsible for the collection, input, analysis, and reporting of school data. Your work will directly contribute to the school's ability to track student progress, manage timetables, and comply with government reporting requirements. You will work closely with teaching and administrative staff, providing support and guidance on data processes and ensuring that all information is accurate, secure, and accessible to those who need it., Maintain and update the school's management information systems (MIS), ensuring data accuracy and compliance. Input student and staff information, including enrolment, attendance, assessment, and performance records. Produce reports for senior leadership, governors, and external agencies as required. Support the management of assessments, examinations, and performance tracking. Ensure data protection compliance in accordance with GDPR and school policies. Assist staff with data queries and provide training on systems where necessary. Monitor data quality and implement processes to improve efficiency and accuracy. Contribute to audits and inspections by providing accurate, timely information.
Requirements
Previous experience working with data in an educational or office environment is desirable. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent organisational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with MIS systems. Good communication skills, both written and verbal, for liaising with staff and external bodies. Understanding of data protection and confidentiality requirements.
