IT Support Engineer / IT Support Officer (Band 5) - Immediate Start
Location: Northern Ireland (multiple sites) Contract: Temporary | Immediate Start Sector: Public Sector / Emergency Services
About the Role
We are currently recruiting an experienced IT Support Engineer / IT Support Officer to join a busy ICT team supporting a large, mission-critical organisation across Northern Ireland. This is an immediate start contract opportunity, ideal for someone with strong technical support and infrastructure experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
You will provide hands-on technical support across desktop, server, network, and cloud technologies, supporting a diverse range of users and services critical to frontline operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1st / 2nd / 3rd line IT support across multiple sites
- Support and troubleshoot Microsoft Active Directory, Azure AD, and Windows Server environments
- Assist with virtualisation technologies, including Hyper-V
- Maintain and support IT infrastructure, hardware, and software systems
- Log, manage, and resolve incidents using a Help Desk / ITSM system
- Perform fault diagnosis, root-cause analysis, and escalation where required
- Support infrastructure changes, deployments, and IT projects
- Liaise with third-party suppliers and vendors when necessary
- Participate in an on-call rota
Essential Technical Skills
Proven IT Support / Technical Support experience Active Directory (AD) user and group management Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) exposure Hyper-V or similar virtualisation experience Windows desktop & server support Experience using Service Desk / Help Desk systems Strong customer service and communication skills
Desirable
- Infrastructure support experience
- Networking fundamentals (switches / routers / firewalls)
- Public sector or large enterprise IT environment experience
